Reduce blockages / pollution-check your ‘T’ pipe

Following a site visit to inspect a septic tank and confirm if the system complied with current Environment Agency binding rules. Unfortunately the septic tank discharged to a watercourse !

An additional problem was that the ‘T ‘ pipe on the outlet of the septic tank had been broken off and was found in the bottom of the septic tank.

This allowed suspended solids, grease, scum etc to enter the drainage field or watercourse, causing blockages / blinding within the pipework, discharging excess solids to the watercourse.

NOTE - ensure your septic tank has inlet and outlet T pipes in place.
