THIS IS A SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT

Following a request to clarify if the waste water system at the property complied with the Environment Agency binding rules. The sewage system serves a five bedroom property, discharges to a watercourse, and is desludged annually, by an accredited waste carrier. The system was installed in the late 70’s, and visually / internally looks to be in good working order.

Based on a discussion with the Environment Agency, the unit is classed as a sewage treatment plant, it was recommended that the discharge be sampled and analysed to confirm they comply with the Consent to Discharge limits ( 20 - 30 -20 ), the unit would not require a consent to discharge permit as the volumetric discharge is below 5 m3 / day ( actual volume = 1.05 m3 /day )
