Frequently Asked Questions

Q. DO YOUR TANKS HAVE DECLARATIONS OF PERFORMANCE IN LINE WITH EN13341?

A. Yes they do. For further info contact us directly.

Q. DOES MY TANK NEED TO BE BUNDED?

A. On a Domestic property, Not in all instances, [depending on where you live], however Envirocare Off-Mains recommend that ALL' tanks be of a Bunded type including domestic properties, as this is the only sure way to help protect the environment and property, and to keep your tank warranty and Life Expectancy unaffected.

In Wales, the regulations have now changed. All New and replacement oil tanks to Domestic properties in Wales, must be Bunded by law.

On all commercial, industrial and institutional premises, the tank must be Bunded. Envirocare Off-Mains, actively promote and recommend, that ALL installations should have a Bunded tank installed.

Remember, warranty on all Bunded Oil and Waste Oil Tanks is 10 years, Fuel Dispensers and Adblue Tanks is 5 years, Single Skin tanks is only 2 years. (Gauges, pumps, hose and seals are not included).

Q. WHAT IS YOUR INNER SPILL TRAY, AND HOW DOES IT WORK ON A BUNDED TANK?

A. We have designed the Inner Spill Tray, to assist in the event of an overfill of fuel. This unique idea has been well received by the Fuel Companies, as most spillages up to 9 litres, can be contained in the Inner Spill Tray, until it can be safely drained back into the inner tank by removing the stopper, not into the bund area, which would then involve an engineer to be called to remove the fuel from the Bund area.

Q. DOES MY TANK NEED TO BE INSTALLED BY AN "OFTEC" INSTALLER?

A. To be totally sure that your tank installation is carried out to the best of standards, and to satisfy our warranty, your tank should be installed by a suitably registered, qualified, or equal and approved engineer. Or signed off/commissioned by a suitably registered, qualified or equal and approved engineer.

Q. CAN I USE MY EXISTING BASE FOR MY NEW TANK?

A. Not in all cases, and this should be checked by the installer when surveying your tank replacement. Information on how bases need to be constructed to meet the requirements, and satisfy our warranty, you should consult and take advice from your qualified engineer. Your warranty could be affected if the supporting base area is not correctly constructed. (Type and weight of the tank you are installing, could also affect your base construction.)

Q. I LIVE IN A FLOOD RISK AREA, SHOULD I TAKE ADDITIONAL STEPS TO SECURE MY OIL TANK?

A. Yes, you can do this by adding some strapping to the existing tank, or if you are replacing your existing tank, you can choose a "Top Outlet Bunded Tank", (No additional Cost) and add the strapping at the same time. For advise on strapping contact Envirocare Off-Mains directly, or consult your qualified engineer.

Q. WHAT HAPPENS TO MY OIL WHEN THE OLD TANK IS REPLACED?

A. Once the new tank has been installed, the existing oil, (Provided it is as clean as possible) will be put back into your new oil tank by the installer concerned. You should consult your qualified engineer/installer prior to the installation specifically about this point.

Q. WHAT HAPPENS TO MY OLD TANK?

A. Where our direct customer base has an installer service, your scrap tank will normally be taken away as part of the full installation. We recommend that prior to the installation, you discuss this point directly with your qualified installer /engineer’’. (There may be an additional charge for this service).

Q. DO I HAVE TO HAVE AN ELECTRONIC GAUGE ON MY NEW TANK?

A. No, you do not, However a reliable electronic gauge can save you having to keep physically dipping the tank which we do not recommend, and will also monitor the fuel level in the tank from the comfort of your property.

There are different types of gauges on the market, from electronic types to simple to use clock type gauges fitted to the tank itself, and as Envirocare Off-Mains are totally independent, we can fit or supply any type of gauge you prefer, and we will offer totally impartial advice if required on any type of gauge.

A. No, Envirocare Off-Mains do not recommend that any of our plastic tanks are installed underground. If you specifically require an underground oil tank, speak directly to your qualified installer or engineer.

Q. DO YOUR TANKS HAVE A LOCK FITTED?

A. Yes, We supply all our tanks with a Strong lockable lid, and an easy to use key.
