An inquiry to confirm a drainage system serving a 2 bedroom, rental property in Winterly, Cheshire, septic tank full, drains surcharged, Tenants unhappy.

Septic tank had been emptied, unfortunately drainage survey booked for 3 days later, engineer unable to complete, tank surcharged., client unaware, paid for survey.

We attend site following a request to replace failed sewage system on Friday 2!st April 2023., lifting manhole & septic tank covers, we informed the client, tank & drains surcharged, would require desludge and survey completing - not happy.

Approximately 6 month’s previous, the surface water gutters had been diverted into a new / relocated gully which was then connected to the septic tank, all roof water entered the septic tank, which would flush floating sewage debris into the drainage field, causing blockages and surcharging of system.

This work had been completed by a BUILDER, causing septic tank failure and non compliance with the current EA binding rules. - expensive mistake, should have used a drainage installer !!!

ACTION - 28th April 2023, empty septic tank, complete drainage survey, quote to install attenuation crates within front lawn area following percolation test divert surface water from 50m2 roof area, modify foul system based on home owners drainage survey results.
